Tax Credits for 2016 and 2017 Camps

For those whose children attended Camps in 2016

If your child was registered for workshops or camps in 2016, you can claim up to $250 on the Children’s Art Tax Credits when you file your 2016 taxes.

Not at CASSA in 2016? Are you considering attending Camps in 2017? You can still get the 2016 tax credit.

As mentioned elsewhere in our news, the Liberal government is phasing out the Children’s Art Tax Credits and 2016 is the last year you can get them but here’s a way to "extend" that benefit:

If you did not use this credit in 2016—say your child was not at a CASSA Camp in 2016—but you want him or her to attend in 2017, you can pay in 2016 for 2017 Camps and still get the deduction in 2016. December 31 will be the last day to register and still get a tax credit for children for camps and workshops.
