Exploring the Arts Camp

Classes are custom designed by a select group of Calgary’s top art educators. Professional teachers provide high quality instruction for an introduction to music, art, drama & movement. Each half-day program includes fifty minutes of each class, covering keyboard, rhythm and singing; varied art techniques; acting and focus games, movement and different dance forms; and a snack break. Class materials are supplied by CASSA.

Open House and Performances

Friday is Open House Family Day; guests may come and go during the day to observe Exploring the Art Camp classes and the PlayWriting Camp performances at 11:15 am, and/or at 3:15 pm. While guests may come and go, please be sure to include the Friday as a day of attendance for all Campers. Everybody is part of the play!

Full-day Option for Exploring the Arts Camp

All students aged 4 to 10 may enroll in full-day Exploring the Arts Camp. In the afternoon they will take the same classes with older students in the next level. 

Students aged 7 to 10 have the option to attend either a full day of Exploring the Arts Camp or a half day in Exploring the Arts Camp and a half day in PlayWriting Camp.

Full-day Option for Exploring the Arts Camp and PlayWriting Camp 

Students aged 4 to 10 wishing to take Exploring the Arts Camp classes for the full day will be placed in the next level for the afternoon. For example, those who are “Red" students in the morning, will become “Blue" students in the afternoon.

Students aged 7 to 10 may attend a half day of Exploring the Arts Camp and a half day of PlayWriting Camp, or may enroll in the full-day Exploring the Arts Camp. 

Students aged 7 to 12 may attend both morning and afternoon sessions of PlayWriting Camp. They will work on and will perform in two separate and individual plays. 

Noon hour supervision will be provided, but students are to bring their own lunch and snack food for the day.

* When you register we will attempt to accommodate your preference of morning or afternoon but we cannot guarantee availability of spaces in either morning or afternoon camp.

Theme for 2017

The theme for Exploring the Arts Camp and PlayWriting Camp for 2017 will be “Jungle"
