Christine Jansen, Costume Director

Christine Jansen has joined CASSA for the first time this year as the costume designer. She has a diverse background in the visual arts, having worked in many different media including printmaking, glassblowing, and jewellery and metals. Although she has been sewing since she was a little girl, Christine has come to theatre and costume-making only recently through her children. Over the years, she channeled some of her creative energies into increasingly ridiculously elaborate costumes for their various activities. As they became more interested in theatre, it was an obvious creative outlet to get involved in the costume-making. Christine enjoys the challenge of creating costumes for amateur theatre, trying to create the best possible costumes while working around the constraints of time and budget. CASSA’s one-week time span certainly ups the ante for the challenge – she hopes she lives up to it!
