We Offer Fine Arts Courses and Workshops

We started twenty years ago with the brilliant idea of providing a summer workshop for piano students. We now offer seven fine arts courses and workshops and an annual recital. Our courses are designed for fun and education for a wide range of interests and ages. Read on to see what we offer. If something interests you, click on the program for more details. Musical Theatre Showtime
July 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, & 10 

This is a six-day program for students aged nine to nineteen years. Participants study singing, acting, stage movement and set design. They plan and produce a musical which is then performed at the end of the week.

Exploring the Arts Camp
July 22 - 26

Developed by four of Calgary's leading arts educators, this five-day camp provides children aged four to ten an introduction to the four artistic disciplines of music, drama, movement and art. Participants are grouped according to age and experience.

PlayWriting Camp 
July 22 - 26

In a dramatic and fun-filled week of half day camps, students from nine to twelve learn how to write, rehearse and perform their own unique play in just five days.

Piano Camp 
July 29 - August 2

During this five-day program, pianists aged ten to adult work on prepared solo repertoire and ensemble pieces with instruction from at least six different instructors, including guest clinicians. Workshops are provided on a variety of topics such as performance anxiety, piano technique, improvisation, composition, drama, art and writing. Students perform in two recitals to showcase the results of their efforts.

Piano Pedagogy Workshop August 6

This workshop is appropriate for piano teachers and advanced students. Highly-respected guest clinicians present lectures and interactive sessions exploring various approaches and materials for piano instruction. 

CASS Recital 
August 6

Guest performers present a professional concert recital which is open to the public.  In 2013 CASSA will be celebrating 20 years! This recital will feature past and present students and instructors from CASSA programs.

Adult Piano Camp 
August 7 - 9

The Adult Piano Camp is an intense three-day program for adult "piano enthusiasts" of all levels.

Jazz Keyboard Workshop
August 6 - 9

Organized by well-known Calgary jazz pianist Derek Stoll, those interested in learning about keyboard jazz performance and technique will have four days of fun doing what they love to do. Designed for those from thirteen to adult.
